Sailing Whiskeytown
"The main body of Whiskeytown Lake, from the dam to where the lake narrows just after Brandy Creek Marina, is the prime sailing area. Small boats (without tall masts) can sail under the Highway 299 Bridge, and boats certainly sail to and from Oak Bottom Marina. The area from Brandy Creek to the dam is really where the action is (as well as the most consistent wind). If you are sailing out there, you’ll see eight buoys (white floating cylinders) at various places around the lake, each with a number on it. These are the racing marks used to designate courses when the Whiskeytown Sailing Club runs its club races, as well as the Whiskeytown Memorial Regatta..."
